Department of Blood and Tumor Diseases
We are Akademiska sjukhuset – one of Sweden's leading university hospitals. As a regional hospital and provider of highly specialized care, we offer care to two million people in Central Sweden. Something is always happening here – a new life is born, a grandmother is operated on, a colleague is hailed as a hero. With us, you will experience both tough challenges and fantastic events, in a strong community with colleagues. See parts of our reality in our photo exhibition; akademiskafotoutstallning.se (http://akademiskafotoutstallning.se). Welcome with your application!
Our Operations
The Lymphedema Clinic is part of the Department of Blood and Tumor Diseases and is tasked with treating patients with lymphedema in the Uppsala Region, in collaboration with the Plastic Surgery Clinic at Akademiska sjukhuset. The majority of patients have a cancer diagnosis and are referred to the clinic from primary care, oncology, and plastic surgery, as well as from other departments within the hospital. Part of the lymphedema therapists' work takes place at the Plastic Surgery Clinic. The Plastic Surgery Clinic is one of three hospitals in Sweden that, starting in 2026, has been granted permission to perform highly specialized care at the national level, a so-called NHV assignment, for lymphatic surgery. The department also has many research assignments.
Your Mission
Your primary placement will be at the Plastic Surgery Clinic where you will meet patients from all over the country for assessment prior to surgery and follow-up of treatment. The work is done in teams with nurses, doctors, and nursing assistants. You will collaborate with the lymphedema therapists at the Lymphedema Clinic who will also introduce you to the work. Your main tasks will involve assessments, measurements, and follow-ups of compression treatment, primarily medical compression garments, for lymphedema.
Your Qualifications
We are looking for someone who is a licensed physiotherapist/physical therapist, occupational therapist, or nurse with relevant further education as a lymphedema therapist. It is advantageous if you have experience in research and/or clinical development work. You are independent, interested in development, and have good collaboration skills.
If you lack the further education to become a medical lymphedema therapist, there may be an opportunity to take the training during working hours. You will have three experienced colleagues at the Lymphedema Clinic who will introduce and help you get started in the work.
We Offer
We offer a one-year temporary position at 50%, with start date according to agreement. A probationary period may be applicable.
With us, you will receive benefits that make a difference, read about the benefits here (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/ (https://regionuppsala.se/jobba-hos-oss/bli-var-nya-kollega/formaner/)).
